Dear Texas Veterans,
The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB), a program within the Texas General Land Office (GLO), operates six programs that provide benefits and services for Texas Veterans, military members and their families. These programs include: low interest land, home, and home improvement loans; skilled nursing home care in eight state Veterans homes; burial and interment services in four state Veterans cemeteries; and Veterans benefit information and assistance services through the Texas Veterans Call Service Center, a collaboration between the VLB and the Texas Veterans Commission.
The mission of the VLB is to ensure that we offer the very best package of Veterans benefits in the country and those of us who work for the VLB strive to meet those goals every day.
The truth is though, we are so much more than that. We believe that we have the best jobs ever—serving Texas Veterans. Some of us are Veterans; or mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, wives, husbands, aunts, uncles and grandchildren of Veterans. Veterans are very near and dear to our hearts here at the VLB, and it’s an honor and a privilege to serve you and your loved ones.
Which is why we’re so excited to engage with you in any way possible. This blog, for instance, is one way we provide more in-depth information on subjects that are important to you. We reach out to Texas Veterans every day using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and we’re delighted when you respond. We have a YouTube channel where you can watch vignettes from our Voices of Veterans oral history program and see coverage of our special events. Some of us travel all over Texas to attend Veterans benefits events in the hopes of meeting some of you in person. Our Texas Veterans Specialists are here in Austin at our headquarters waiting to help you, with anything, even if it doesn’t have anything to do with our programs directly. We work closely with other Veterans Service Organizations, so if we don’t know the answer to your question, we’ll help you find the person who does. Just give us a call at 1-800-252-8387.
Basically, we love our Texas Veterans, so this isn’t just a job to us, it’s an opportunity to give back to you, who have given so much. Sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you’ve done for this beautiful country.
