Although Texas offers a wide variety of properties for sale, some veterans have reported difficulties in finding land to purchase using their land loan benefits from the VLB. As you may know, Texas veterans can participate in the Veterans Land Loan Program to purchase Texas land for sale that is one acre or more – from any seller.
VLB has been promoting Type II forfeited land sales on TexasVeterans.com for many years. To further promote those forfeited tracts, we recently began marketing properties in an even bigger way. In February 2013, the VLB subscribed to posting properties on the Lands of Texas website. Lands of Texas is a property search website featuring land from more than 5,300 sellers, including the Veterans Land Board. The Type II forfeited land tracts offered by VLB can be viewed at http://www.landsoftexas.com/member/68172.
Websites such as Landwatch.com, LandandFarm.com and LandsofTexas.com offer a variety of property search features for those looking to purchase land. As one of the largest rural real estate networks in the nation, Lands of Texas has partnerships with more than 575 websites which link to its properties. A quick search on this website for properties that meet VLB land financing requirements yielded more than 5,500 results. VLB land loans of up to $100,000 are available for eligible Texas veterans wishing to purchase property that is one acre or more in size.
“Subscribing to Lands of Texas is a way to help our veterans find property while also making our forfeited properties available to a wider audience,” said VLB Executive Secretary Paul Moore. “In just a few days, we’ve received inquiries about several forfeited tracts. The additional exposure of our forfeited tracts will ultimately help us provide benefits to more Texas veterans.”
