The four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries were built through a partnership between the State of Texas and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. They are special resting places where family, friends and fellow Texans can honor and remember the memories of Texas Veterans and their loved ones. Though they are managed by the Texas Veterans Land Board, the cemeteries often receive generous donations of time and money from individuals and various organizations in their communities.
Mrs. Farida Karpoff has been an avid supporter of the unaccompanied Veteran’s services at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Her company, A & L Florist, makes beautiful floral arrangements to ensure each Veteran receives an honorable and dignified service. The special touch added by Mrs. Karpoff’s generous floral donations are greatly appreciated. Mrs. Karpoff was recently presented with a Texas State Veterans Cemeteries Program Certificate of Appreciation and Thank You Memo from Eric Brown, the program’s Deputy Director. Thank you Mrs. Karpoff for your service on behalf of our Texas Veterans.
Ms. Trudy Bolton volunteers her time to personally deliver floral arrangements and ensure they are thoughtfully placed prior to the service of the unaccompanied Veterans. As a gesture for her kind and humble service, Douglas Gault, Chief On-Site Representative for the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, recognized her service by presenting the U.S. flag on behalf of an unaccompanied Veteran during a recent service.
The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene received a very generous donation of $8,000 from Families of Fallen Warriors for the purchase of wrought iron memorial benches. This donation will ensure greater accommodations for visitors to the cemeteries and serve as memorials to the service men and women of the Big Country. Each bench will have a plaque attached on the back rest with an endearing message on behalf of the families and next of kin of the fallen warrior.
The Texas State Veterans Cemeteries Program is extremely grateful for the many volunteers and supporters of these hallowed grounds.
